Animations ignore the reduced motion setting
Why it matters
Some people feel ill from parallax, zooms and large movement. Their device has a "reduce motion" setting, and sites are expected to respect it.
How to fix it
Wrap non-essential animation in a prefers-reduced-motion query, or switch it off inside one. The Safe Fixes module has a toggle for this.
@media (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce) {
*, *::before, *::after {
animation-duration: 0.01ms !important;
animation-iteration-count: 1 !important;
transition-duration: 0.01ms !important;
scroll-behavior: auto !important;
}
} Read the W3C guidance: Understanding 2.3.3 Animation from Interactions.
This is a check that needs a person. A11yMate flags it for review rather than reporting a failure.
