Accessibility statement
This statement applies to a11ymate.co.uk. It follows the shape of the UK government's model accessibility statement.
This website is run by OakFox. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. You should be able to:
- zoom in to 200% with no loss of content, and reflow at 320 CSS pixels wide
- navigate the whole site with a keyboard alone
- use it with a screen reader
- choose a light or dark theme, and have motion reduced if your device asks for it
Conformance status
We are aiming for WCAG 2.2 level AA. We believe the site meets it, but we have not had it independently audited, so we describe it as conformance not independently verified.
How we tested
- Automated checks with axe-core on every page, in both the light and dark themes. The last run, on 21 October 2026, found no violations.
- Keyboard testing of the navigation, the theme switch, the free tools, the rules filters and the FAQ.
- Checks at 200% zoom and at 320 CSS pixels wide, and with reduced motion switched on.
Automated tests find only some problems. We have not yet tested with every screen reader, and we have not carried out testing with disabled people. If you find something we have missed, please tell us.
Known limitations
- The animated product demo on the home page is decorative, and it is hidden from assistive technology with a text description alongside. You can pause or replay it, and if your device asks for reduced motion it shows a still frame.
- The free tools need JavaScript. Without it the page says so.
- The colour-vision simulation in the contrast checker is a visual aid. Its results are not read out in a way that conveys the simulated colours, but the numbers beside each tile are.
