Link opens a new tab without saying so
Why it matters
Opening a new window without warning can disorient people, especially if they use a screen reader or magnifier and do not notice the change.
How to fix it
Say so in the link text, or add screen reader text. Safe Fixes can add "(opens in a new tab)" automatically. Also add rel="noopener".
<a href="https://example.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Example <span class="screen-reader-text">(opens in a new tab)</span></a> Read the W3C guidance: Understanding 3.2.5 Change on Request.
This is a check that needs a person. A11yMate flags it for review rather than reporting a failure.
